A Beekeeper’s Incense Making Workshop

From Hive to Smoke

Join me, a guardian of bees, for a grounding experience where the sacred gifts of the hive meet the ancient art of incense making. You will learn to craft your own incense using propolis – an aromatic resin created by the bees, treasured for centuries by various ancient cultures in ritual, medicine and myth. Propolis (“bee glue”) is known for its antimicrobial, healing, and preservative properties. Blending it with local, powerful plants and wild botanicals, you will create fragrant offerings, imbued with bee magic and healing properties to burn in ceremony, meditation, or simple moments of stillness at home.

As we work, we’ll wander through the history, folklore, and symbolism of bees – from their place as messengers between worlds, to their mystical significance in sacred rites across cultures. 

You’ll leave not only with your intentionally handmade incense cones and sticks, but also a deeper connection to the magic, wisdom, and generosity of our nectar gathering friends.

All materials are provided, and no previous experience is needed - just curiosity, creativity, and a love for people, our planet and of course our pollinators!

This workshop creates and celebrates the connection to our land and bees.  A chance to slow down, create with meaning, and carry home something truly unique that you’ve made with your own hands.

About your host!

My name is Moni - I am an artist, apiarist and alchemist.  Over the past 10 years, my journey with the bees has profoundly shaped my creative process and greatly inspired my botanical creations, allowing me to explore the magical and alchemical potential of the hive. With 15+ years as a designer working for some of the biggest brands, I continue to channel that creativity into crafting fun, colourful creations and rituals inspired by the bees and made with intention. 

Workshop Overview:

As we delve into the alchemy of the bees, we will specifically learn about propolis and bee-friendly botanicals - all of which are powerful, transformative, earth-infused mediums. In this workshop, we will craft incense, inspired by ancient traditions and folklore, that harness the power of the hive, to use in your own rituals and ceremonies. You will create:

• Incense Cones
• Incense Sticks

Set against the backdrop of our funky, colourful Studio in Surrey, which coincidently sits above our honey and wax processing workshop! We keep our group small so expect personalised guidance and plenty of space to let your creativity shine.

What we will provide:

All materials and tools needed to craft your bee inspired rituals.
Help yourself to ‘unlimited’ tea and cake throughout the day! (IMPORTANT - Please let me know of any dietary requirements beforehand).

Terms and Conditions

We have high demand for our courses and put a lot of effort into preparation. If you are unable to attend the course after booking, get in touch with us at least two weeks in advance. I will try to move you to another date where possible. Please note: 25% of your course fee is non-refundable if you cancel your place on the course date.

We are fully insured and have first aid training.
